What you can estimate

The paycheck calculator turns a salary, hourly wage, or single gross paycheck into federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and state withholding. State guides: California, New York, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, Wyoming, South Dakota, Alaska, New Hampshire, Washington. California uses Method B, allowances, the low-income exemption, and SDI with no wage cap. New York uses the NYS-50-T annual schedule, including New York City and Yonkers. Illinois uses the IL-700-T automated method. Texas, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, Wyoming, South Dakota, and New Hampshire have no state income tax, so those pages estimate federal tax and FICA only. Alaska adds employee unemployment insurance, and Washington adds Paid Family and Medical Leave and WA Cares.

Every tool runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded. Figures are estimates for planning, not a determination of the tax you owe.
